Wizard of Oz Auditions

Auditions for the CHORUS for MADC's 35th Panto - The Wizard of Oz (WoZ) will be held at the MADC Clubrooms on Sunday, May 20th at 2 pm.

Those auditioning:

  • Will NOT be required to prepare a monologue but will be given a short piece to interpret on the day.
  • Will need to prepare a song (the piano score or backing track on CD (not mp3 please) must be provided by the auditionee).
  • Will be taught a simple but energetic dance routine on the day.

DO NOT BOTHER AUDITIONING if you have a phobia for any of the following: pyrotechnics, little people, flying monkeys, witches on broomsticks, cyclones, special effects, spectacular magic, intense fun, contagious laughter, cheesy jokes, double entendres, energetic dance routines, toe tapping tunes... or men in drag. If on the other hand you enjoy all of the above together with hard work, much laughter, adrenaline and would like the opportunity to be part of the biggest show of the year.

The Hamlet Trilogy – Press Release

On 11, 12 and 13 May the MADC will present at its Clubrooms ‘The Hamlet Trilogy’, three linked one-act plays by Nick Warburton showing the trials and tribulations of an amateur theatre company before, during and after a production of Hamlet.

The first play is titled ‘Easy Stages’, the second, ‘Don’t Blame it on the Boots’ and the third ‘Distracted Globe’.   The plays are fast-paced and there are plenty of laughs.  The dialogue sparkles with wit and innuendo.  The characters and the absurd situations they get into are familiar to theatre-goers, who will sympathise with the earnest efforts of everyone to do their best in trying circumstances.

The Hamlet Trilogy has developed from the Short ‘N’ Sweet workshops held by the MADC in recent months.   The workshops are designed to give newcomers and less-experienced people a taste of all aspects of theatre from page to stage and to develop their acting and directing skills.  All participants are helping with technical support – costumes, set design and painting, programme design and props.
