It is my pleasure and privilege to reassume the role of Chairman after fourteen years, having been in the Chair during 1986-88 and again from 1992 to 94.
And by Jove, how the Malta theatre scene has changed. It is more vibrant with more companies and independent producers staging a plethora of theatrical performances, creating greater competition for the limited acting spaces, the talent and technical resources available. Together with all the other leisure activities that have developed in this dot.com age, we are all competing for audiences.
So it is encouraging that your current committee brings together a mix of youthful enthusiasm and mature experience – hopefully an eclectic mélange to cater for the varying tastes of our diverse membership.
As a club, we offer more than just theatre – which is our raison d’être. It is encouraging to see an increase in the social events and other activities at the clubrooms that are attracting younger members. It is being a club with its own premises and theatre facilities that differentiates MADC from the rest.
Your committee welcomes any suggestions from members regarding activities and events that you would like to be added to our calendar.
