MADC New Season

E-mail Print PDF
The MADC's season started off with the One-Act Play Festival in October, giving budding thespians the opportunity to practice the craft at our Playhouse in Santa Venera. We then move on to our trademark pantomime, now well established at the MFCC in Ta’Qali. Peter Panto is sure to be a memorable production and there will be some stunning flying effects provided by Nick Kirby whose great-grandfather founded the world renowned 'Kirby’s Flying Ballet', and who also devised the flying equipment for J.M. Barrie’s original production of Peter Pan in 1904.

Then it's onto our annual Shakespeare production in July. Being our centenary year, this year's annual open-air Shakespeare will take the form of a tribute to this long-standing MADC tradition.  The production is entitled Shakespeare Revisited - a Centenary Tribute and will include four or five excerpts from some of the best-loved of his plays.  The first half will be entitled 'of Gods and Generals' while the second has the theme 'of Love and Hate'.  Marylu Coppini will be compiling the script as well as directing.  It is envisaged that the production will take place in July.

In between, there will be several social functions organised by the Social Functions team - quiz nights, a car boot sale, a treasure hunt and social evenings at the Clubrooms.
