Inaugurating the club’s theatrical season, which will include 'Peter Panto' and 'The Producers', both to be held at the MFCC, the renowned festival showcased up-and-coming talent through a variety of short plays. Clare Aguis, Alan Fenech and Paula Fleri Soler were the year’s adjudicators of the five productions presented over four days, and they gave their final evaluations on Sunday night. Awards were subsequently given as follows:

  • Most Promising Actor: Luca Mule Stagno
  • Most Promising Actress: Daphne-Ann Grech
  • Best Actor: Mik Pisani
  • Best Actress: Davinia Hamilton
  • Best Director: Franco Rizzo
  • Best Production: The Auditioners (directed by Maxine Calleja Urry)

Following the award ceremony, MADC Chairperson Nanette Brimmer said: “The standard of this year’s festival was very high. Apart from the exciting mix of comedy and drama, it highlighted the theatrical talent in Malta. The MADC One Act Play Festival acts as a springboard for many young people’s theatrical careers and already their dedication was evident. We look forward to seeing them in future productions!
